Stephen Colbert, like a real genius
Thank you, Stephen. You are one of the reasons I have any sanity left at all. I’m sure the Republicans out there if you haven’t left yet are doubting that I have any. As hard as it is to believe I never heard of Colbert until he started taking pot shots at Trump. Apparently, I was not the only one. Since February of 2017, Stephen has dominated the late night TV ratings. Longtime champion, The Tonight Show has lost 21% of their audience over the previous year.
The temptation is to share some of the funniest and wittiest gems from the show. If I did that, it would be a book instead of a blog post. Midnight Confessions is the name of the book and Stephen released it in 2017. It isn’t about political satire. It is a segment of the show which shares its name with the book’s title. It starts out with, “These may not necessarily be sins, but I feel bad about them.” Steve sits behind a wall, reminiscent of a Catholic confessional. He then confesses things to the audience and closes by asking for forgiveness from them.
There is not a lot that is funny about the Trump administration. What little there is, Stephen will find and share in a much wittier way than any of us could. If you haven’t already, tune into CBS at 11:35 pm EST/10:35 pm CST. It is cheaper than valium and works just as well. Rock on dude!
