The Stable Genius
“Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart,” and “I went from VERY successful businessman, to top T.V. Star…..” and “….to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius….and a very stable genius at that!”
There is unlikely to be a lot of this, but I am going to say something nice about President Trump. I do think it is important for me to be objective to a point, or this becomes another liberal rant. Of his own choice, he took a standardized cognitive test. Dr. Ronny Jackson, who has served the previous two presidents was not going to require it, but the President wanted to dispell rumors of his mental state deteriorating. I read through the test and would have probably scored in the normal range. At sixty-two, my memory isn’t what it used to be. To my surprise the President aced it. Thirty out of Thirty possible points. This isn’t an IQ test. It is more of a tool to find Alzheimers and dementia.
I will probably return to update this, but it is pretty obvious that Trump thinks he is a genius and one of the smartest people on Earth. There is the taunt to his own Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson to compare IQ scores. This quote from May 2013 pretty much sums up my whole point here. “Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest -and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure, it’s not your fault” In November of 2015, he graced us with this jewel, “I’m much smarter than them. I think I have a much higher IQ. I think I went to a better college — better everything.” A
The point of all of this is to draw attention to the fact that really smart people are aware of their limitations and don’t exaggerate what they know about any given subject. They have an insatiable appetite to learn more (Trump study habit ” I’m a very instinctual person,” he said, “but my instinct turns out to be right.”), and according to M.I.T. University, You have more empathy than most people. We know for a fact that Trump by his own admission wants “minimal information in my intelligence briefings.” I don’t think we have ever seen an example of Trump having any empathy, much less more than most.
